Rapid daily verbal debrief of trainee performance by supervising faculty based on the “ROCSS” framework (Reflection, Observations, Continue, Stop, Start)
In-Training Evaluation Report (ITER)
Monthly comprehensive evaluations completed by the Program Director addressing progression of competence for all training objective anchored in CanMEDS Framework.
Quarterly Reviews
High-level assessment of overall progression of the trainee completed by the Program Director with a specific focus on status of deliverables, as well as interim ITER evaluations to-date.

Summative multi-dimensional submission completed by the trainee with tasks anchored in the training objectives/CanMEDS roles. While specific tasks have been designed with certain roles in mind, the nature of the portfolio submissions is such that multiple program objectives are addressed by each submission, often addressing a number of different roles simultaneously
Although similar to the competency portfolio required by the RCPSC Acute Care POCUS AFC standards, the local portfolio does include extra submissions satisfying local educational requirements. A brief summary of evaluated items is listed below with further details available in attached Educational Portfolio document. The Educational Portfolio will be assessed by the Program Director. Relevant component parts will be submitted to the Royal College on the trainee’s behalf should they be required for AFC portfolio audit.

Summative written evaluation of trainee knowledge base performed at the end of the AFC experience. A mixture of short and long answer questions with a significant component of questions having stems with associated media (still/video clip). Examination performance will be assessed by the Program Director. Minimum passing score is 70%.
